Hi
This club used to be above the Surf-Side Stop cafe in Constitution Hill.
I was occasionally DJ there, (Captain Scott) usually had a band on Saturday night, some times I used to bring the Band from my other venue “The Pandora Club” in Erdington.
It was over two floors, with the DJ unit being a Glass Cube (very small)
Bringa back a lot of memories

I remember a fur lined lift and the rooms full of Mods. I don’t remember what it looked like at all but that might say a lot about the state I was in. I do remember watching a London band called the Shevelles play. I think they were good. Birmingham was a truly magical place then and we had so many great gigs to go to. The West End, the Locarno (Mon and Weds), The Whisky. Brilliant I wish I’d been astute enough to archive it in pictures although I am in the process of writing about it. So.. anybody with memories of the Mod days, please reply. Cheers
Sorry, but I don’t think those Way of Life gigs had John Bonham on drums at the time; I think it was Mac Poole
I think it might have been Bonham on drums at that time. I can remember seeing the Way of Life at the Carlton (before it changed to Mothers) in late 1966 and he was with them then. As far as I know he stayed with them until he left to join the Band of Joy.
