Celebrating Birmingham's Popular Music History
[Show picture list]
One of the best venues in Birmingham. Regular there late seventies and early eighties until I relocated to California. Great memories.
my brother viv was the D J in the tudor club in the sixties
Does anyone have a contact for Bobby or Chimpy? They were both old mates in the West End days. Sean Toal
My last message featured Bobby Fields and Chimpy Harris and I don’t think I left enough detail. Anyway… Bobby (white GS) and Chimpy were old mates. The last time I remember talking with big Bobby was in a club called the Factory, Gas St, and Brian, near where I worked in Bradford St. If only I had picutres of the inside the old West End Ballroom or Locarno. If anyone has contact of the boys mentioned above please give them my e-mail and we’ll meet, God willing, the next time I’m in town. Cheers.
Hi there, donot know what happand to bobby, but chimpy, can be found in northfeild.from an old towney,
Saw U2 supported by The Comsat Angels October 1980 or 1981
There was a lot of bad press for the club during 1981 when a man was stabbed to death outside the venue. There doesn’t seem to be any connection with the club itself in the press at the time.
Is this Steve Williams member of FLEAS, ex app’ from Fisher & Ludlow?
U2 & Comsats, awesome gig, I seem to recall trying to get mates to come along, the blokes who now spend £100s on mega stadium gigs, no takers. I don’t think I have ever sweated as much as I did at this gig, must sort out my ticket stub. Bauhaus & Wall of Voodoo, very very drunk, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode with Blancmange as support, Divine, Punk all day ears, Hank Wangford band, did I see Simply Red here, or is that faulty memory?
One gig that comes to mind is Classix Nouveaux … I have a few photos somewhere.
I saw classix nouveaux there a couple of times, seem to remember not many in the audience the first time
I loved the Lacarno I was always there in the early 80s x does anyone remember the band Red Sun x
