There was a world class festival held in Moseley Private Park celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt. The worlds very best players of the gypsy jazz style were here and, from the beginning, it attracted an audience from every part of the globe (people flying in from New Zealand, the States, Canada, Russia, Japan etc!) There are a load of videos up on YouTube from the festival – just search under L’Esprit Manouche

Putting on the L’Esprit Manouche festival was great fun and serious hard work shared between just three people – (and all of our friends who we blackmailed into helping to make it happen) – but what a time it was. As a guitarist it was a dream for me – I booked some of the most stunning musicians in the world to come and play in my local park. All of those that played there still have a lot of good memories and much respect for what happened – we seriously upped the credibility of our home town!
Dave. Rob Ollis here. I heard of Joe’s passing, but can’t get info on his service, tommorrow. Do you know the details? Can you let me know, please?
