Celebrating Birmingham's Popular Music History
Musical instrument shop located in Cannon Street, city centre.
with respect it’s Kay Westworth not Wentworth
My friends and I, from Erdington, used to og to town (B.ham) centre and look at the instruments in Kay. Westworth’s, on snow Hill, on Saturday mornings, and dream of being famous musicians later in life.
With a military band I ended up in Norway where I have lived for sixty years.
I have’nt forgotten you yet, dear shop!
Cheers from Mike
My father in law worked there in the late 70s/early eighties. It was owned/run then by, I think William Pickering was there until it closed in 1984
I clearly recall Kay Westworth. I used to troll into Birmingham on the 65 bus from Erdington and walk what seemed miles between the various guitar outlets at the time. Probably spent more cash in Westworths’ than anywhere else in that period on strings, sheet music, a genuine set of second hand Gibson PAF’s and ultimately my first real guitar, a Shergold Masquerader. Good advice came free. Happy days.
