Thanks to band member Gillon Jacoby for sending these great recordings of Fast Relief into the archive:
This is the recording of part of a Fast Relief gig circa ‘81/’82. I’m not sure where the gig was, but at the beginning Lindy call’s for percussionists, Gaz & Pete, who would have been Gary Lechevsky (The Pinkies) & Pete (Au Pair) Hammond, which might indicate it was in Birmingham, but not necessarily. It was recorded through the mixing desk.
Please find attached the studio recording from 1982, recorded at Jacobs Studio, of what was meant to be our single. Sadly never released. The band at the time was Lindy – vocals and saxophone, Michelle (Mitch) – bass & backing vocals, Rob Bright – drums and percussion and me guitar, flute and backing vocals. I’m presuming Jayne Pinkie would have been on this recording, although, embarrassingly, I don’t remember her being there! Andy Burchell played clarinet (exquisitely) and vibraphone (vibes). Julie, our manager, was also our sound engineer and Martin Culverwell (Au Pairs manager and 021 Records) produced it.

Hi,
I’m looking for any informations about the band Fast Relief, the are supposed to have released a single on 021 Records in 1981, but I only found an mp3 on this site : http://www.eccentricsleevenotes.com/ESN-2–Dec-1981(1619908).htm#18fastrelief
Thank you!

Fast Relief were big mates of the Au Pairs who were on (or did they own?) 021 records. My first band played with them at Digbeth Civic Hall with the Pinkies and African Star. They did a great version of Michigan and Smileys ‘One Love Jam Down’. I’ve got photos if you’re interested.

Lovely to hear from you Mick! Please put the pictures on here if you can. Sorry to say I’m not often on the site as I don’t do the WWW!
Would love to see any picks you mite have of the pinkies you have? The drummer Keith Harris was a good friend of mine.
Hi- Lindy from Fast Relief is credited on the 7″ single by The Pinkies on 021 records [ it’s rather good]
She is also credited as playing sax on The pinkies track on the Moonlight radio compilation LP,
Grant
The guitarist from Fast Relief is now djing on 10 radio – Vinyl Richie & His Turbo Sonic sound, playing strictly old school JA sounds. Mitch the bass guitarist still strong in London.
Hello people, this is the singer Lindy from fast relief, we did do a single, but it was never released but I do have five of our tracks on CD. We recorded our tracks for 021 records, which Martin the Au’pairs owned, I love that you all remember our band. Also, it was Jane Pinky on the Au’Pairs video who sadly passed away in 2005.
I have two grown up children and two staffies. I recently recorded a CD for 1-5 year olds to encourage singing and dancing.
Hi Lindy, on the off chance you see this I was hoping i could get a copy of the CD with the 5 Fast Relief tracks you mentioned. Of course I’m willing to pay for spending costs etc. Thanks!
Hi Nick, I love that you want our CD and would love to get one to you but I’ve run out of copies! Can I get back to you when I have more. Nice one!
Hi Lindy,
Ted here ex-Dance. Glad to hear you are thriving. We too recorded a single for 021: also never released. I heard Kevin died? I was in the US for 23 years but I am back in B’ham at the moment. Is Michelle still about?
M
Michelle lives in London these days Ted.
Hi Ted – How lovely and amazing to hear from you, I remember you well, and Ghandi the bass player! Really sad to hear about Kevin, I just don’t know if he’s still with us. I’ve lost contact with Gillon and Mitch, but I’ll be writing to both of them soon – I hear they are both well and happy. I remember fondly the fun we all had together, Fast Relief, Dance and The Pinkies!
i would also love to get a copy of your CD or if you are able to send me the mp3’s.
i heard one of your tracks the other day and i love it 🙂
I used to hang out with The Pinkies. They rented part of a large housevnear Cann Hill Park. Gary, Steve and Jayne. So sorry to hear Jayne passed away. Any more info would be much appreciated
I have some pic’s of Fast Relief at Brum Uni, 1980 / 81 – ish, along with the Au Pairs & The Pinkies, including some of the “all-star” jam at the end. I think you did Harlem Shuffle ?
David, get them on here or via me and I’ll upload them!
re: bil. December 6 2016. pinkies drummer.

Pete is your name Mckenna ? I,m Bill Harding. Please get in touch.
Saw them support UB40 in the amphitheatre in Canon hill park about 80/81
Tina’s one of my neighbours, she said they supported The Sex Pistols in Coventry, but forgetting that, they actually sound really good, wish I could share this on Facebook, I think they deserve more credit, because this wouldn’t sound out of place even today, they sound like a bunch of school girls gone wild having being over powered by the funk! Thanks for the audio, I look forward to hearing more.
Hi Lindy
I stayed at yours and saw fast relief many times….
