As a working musician in the 1950’s around the Birmingham area, Dennis Detheridge was a well know local music reporter, covering the local jazz scene, and visiting big band concerts, and working for the old Evening Despatch. I left the city in 1958 to pursue my own musical career, and lost track of Dennis.
I understand that, later, he was involved in both the Midland Beat & Brum Beat magazines.
My question is: Is Dennis still around, indeed even alive?!! Any information would be gratefully received.

Just to say I too would like to know if Denis Detheridge is still around.
I recall his Midland Beat on Midland Home Service which I think went out on Friday evenings around 6:30 after the news.
I’d dearly like to find a single he played in the mid 60s called “Walking” by a delicious sounding female vocalist with a jazz outfit. She had a lovely smokey-sounding voice.
Little hope Radio WM would be interested in co-operating unearthing this lost bit of local music history.
I worked as secretary to Dennis in the early 60s when we both worked for George Bartram Press Relation Organisation. Dennis, I think, was also Editor of The New Musical Express. Happy days.
I have been inquiring about Dennis Detheridge also. Back in the 70’s, I was the resident dancer in a club he and Ian Reed had, at the time XTC were revelling in fame.
I’ve been hoping to find and talk to Dennis for a long time, but I can’t track him down either. I hope he is well and happy, and hopefully, Dennis might see this message and contact me.
I was known as ‘Jay the go-go dancer’ and now known as Donni-Jay De-Ville. I can be found on the Internet, as can my website.
I will also be happy to speak to Ian Reed, and hope to hear from him also.
