Costa’s was the place to hang out and have a few beers listening to the Heavy rock disco on a wednesday evening before walking down to the Mercat Cross Pub by the Bull Ring Market to see Born Loser playing as resident band there.
I remember going to the costamonger, Having a few, then on to “the windsor”.. Then finally on to “Bogarts” On a saturday eve, we had a great time, and the pubs closed at 11pm..10.30pm on sundays! Gulp!!.. What memories 🙂
Used to visit The Costas mostly on a Thursday night, if not at Bogarts and Saturday afternoons. Hello to the usual Rio, Bogarts, Grapes, Mercat, Barrel Organ, Golden Eagle etc regulars. Best memory watching Slade’s Run Run Away on the video jukebox and worst memory being told by Iggy that Tommy Cooper had died on telly one Sunday night. 🙂 🙁
I remember (vaguély) sat lunchtime going in the Basement and Steve Gibbons band were there. Somehow they had shoehorned in their halfstacks and drums between the tables. There were just a few in. They were very good! I think we went around Oasis later in the afternoon (as it was just along the way) and probably bought new loons ! Yellow, red, purple, or all 3 !!
