If I remember rightly, This was just down from the Hippodrome on Hurst St. I was there the night it opened and The night it opened was almost the night it closed. I remember that the DJ John Peel was the “Big Attraction” for the opening night and he was playing some weird dross to which no one would dance. After a while he said if no one will dance I will play the TONY BLACKBURN album until you do – He did and not just as a joke for a few seconds but let it play on – After 2 tracks me and my mates left never to return – sure it closed down quite quickly after that
I seem to remember that Clogs was a members only club, I think it only lasted about 4-5 weeks, I saw John Peel, Vinegar Joe and Brewer’s Droop there. I do remember John Peel not getting a very good reception, refusing to play ‘requests’ saying I’ve got a play list and I’m sticking to it.
