Celebrating Birmingham's Popular Music History
Ted has sent in these photos of The Krewkats playing in Paris in 1962 and 1963. The Krewkats were made up of members from Carl Fenn and the Mysteries.
Pictured are Rob Nicholls – Guitar, Don Hawkins – Drums and Ted Tunnicliffe – Guitar
The above is the first of a two parter on the band
My future husband Iain was leader of THE JETS, the first rock band to play GERMANY/HAMBURG-with his addition of Tony Sheridan…and we all know how THAT ended…ie THE BEATLES!
After returning to UK PETER ECKHORN asked Iain to form a houseband…THE TOP TEN ALL STARS…so as a shortcut he flew to UK-saw a band THE CARL FENN COMBO on ATV and booked them…!
And so the TOP TEN HOUSE BAND was born…
It was the same lineup as the Mysteries, but we have no idea why the KREW KATS say they were the Allstars…for one, DON HAWKINS was drummer, later replaced by Jimmy Doyle, Rikki Barnes was Sax…BABY BUBBLY extra singer, Ralph Danks, and others replaced Brad, Ted….Carl Fenn stqyed…Isabella Bond joined…
I’d love to contact Carl Fenn…Iain too…is he still around…
Hi I came across this site and you mentioned Iain as you future husband. Was that Iain Hines? If so could you email me back as Iain and myself go back a very long way. It would be great to catch up. I was friendly with is family as well.
Thank you for your time..
Cheers Douggie Reece
