Burberries was the indie place in Birmingham in the mid 80s to late 90s. Home to The Click Club run by Dave Travis it was to be home to Pop Will Eat Itself, Mighty Mighty, Felt, Terry & Gerry and other great Brum indie bands.
Visiting bands included Orange Juice, Primal Screen and My Bloody Valentine amongst many many others.
The Click Club is still fondly remembered and talked about to today.
Benedict Davies has sent a bunch of ticket stubs from Click Club nights (not all at Burberries)

saw an up and coming band called blur at burberries in 1990(still got the ticket).
Great little venue for live music in the 1980s. Nice to see that Sugarcubes ticket from December ’87 — they also performed there a few days earlier (Sunday, 6th). Bjork’s vocal noises during the soundcheck was one of the best performances I’ve ever experienced.
It may be under a different name but the “Click club” in Corporation street was a famous 1980’s venue. Pixies supported Throwing muses there around 1988 (the first time these bands had played outside the US) and I remember Bjork going past me as she went to the bar at a Sugarcubes gig. (also saw the Bhundu boys there and others. ),
cheers,

Hi Keith, I was co-promoter of The Click Club at Burberries with Dave (Travis). We rand the Tuesday nights at Burberries. The gigs you remember – Throwing Muses/Pixies, Sugarcubes and Bhundu Boys – were all held there, on Broad Street. There are lots of Dave’s photos on a Facebook page dedicated to the club: search for The Click Club at Burberries.

Sorry Steve I have only just looked at your post. Some great nights and gigs at that venue which you put on with Dave T. Always seemed to be full who ever the band was. That was not so normal in those days but (sadly) seems to be nowadays. I still have fond memories’ of seeing bands like REM (tin can Spring 84) in an half full venue.
