Can somebody please confirm that in the 60’s the Beatles appeared at Smethwick Baths and also the Adelphi, at West Bromwich (the same night) it is an ongoing talking point, and I think I am right, Thank-you …. Anne
Does anyone remember a group in the 1960s called The Precincts of Bushbury Wolverhampton please..we played at the Kingfisher and Civic hall Wolverhampton and lots of clubs.
I can’t be sure if this is the right band, no photos and no review. This is from the September 1982 edition of the (Balsall) Heathan :-
“The concert, featuring “Echo Base”, also included two other local bands – “Pyramid” and “Kabuki”. And support for the evening came from Birmingham super group “U B 40” and the extremely popular “Fun Boy Three”. Special guest for the evening was the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, who lent his weight to the appeal fund, which, incidentally, needs to raise over £8,000 to secure the night shelter’s future into 1983.”
It refers to a gig at the Carlton Cinema in aid of The Boot aka St Basil’s Homeless Shelter.
I was a founding member of Kabuki. I still have a copy of the single some place and a couple of pix. I went on to sing with Renegades, James Boys and Pavlov Dogs.I’ll try and dig some stuff up and post for you.
Hi Mark
This is Mike (‘Frank Zappa’), original drummer, would love to get copies of anything relating the band during my time. Feel free email me at bdgrtraining (at) gmx (dot) com.
Cheers! Mike
I am looking for anyone who remembers either the Dances at the Parish Hall in Water Orton – especially if you were there the night the Move appeared just prior to the release of there first hit single. Also did you go to the TOP DECK CLUB in Coleshill on a Friday night.
Hi Phil. Played the Top Deck, Coleshill, with a band called The Adament in about 1967. Sticks in my memory because even before we kicked off, as we were testing the PA, a copper and his dog came in to tell us there had been complaints about the noise, and could we turn it down! Great sweaty venue though; a pool of condensation had formed in the centre of the dance floor at the end of the night.
Thanks for replying, Bournemouth is nice – I have relatives in the area. I live in London now too – does Gary still do any singing?
I seem to recall they used to sing Hey Jude for you sometimes!
I can’t now remember all the places I heard the band but The Factory in Gas Street was one of them – they were a great band.
We were in a band called era7. We were in Brum Beat after. Playing at Snobs and it was really booked. We were looking for a manager. Me and my brother had our pictures taken – I would like to find it.
No, I didn’t know about the album – I’ll have a look on the internet.
I remember buying the single Ice Cream Tree! The B side was Julius Caesar if I recall correctly.

Used to go there in the late 60s to see Breakthru.

I saw Breakthru a few times and I remember your name.
