Arthur has been the undisputed leading independent promotor in Birmingham for over the last twenty years through his Catapult Club events.

The Catapult Club has played host to nearly every Birmingham indie band of note during this time and Arthur ensures that bands have venues and gigs to play at.

Initially starting out promoting a Monday night event at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath in September 1989, where he would stay for three years, Arthur and The Catapult Club are most closely associated with the legendary Jug of Ale venue in Moseley where he was the in house promoter from the opening in 1992 until the much maligned closure in 2008.

While at the Jug, The Catapult Club hosted every Brum band from Ocean Colour Scene and Dodgy to Editors and The Twang as well as bands that would go on to become household names, a personal favourite night was seeing Kasabian tear the house down on hot sweaty summers evening.

While promoting at the Jug, Arthur also started to promote at the newly renovated Hummingbird, now called the Birmingham Academy, in 2000. This lead to Catapult Club nights taking place on every night of the week and for bands to progress from playing the Jug to going onto the bigger capacity Academy spaces.

Arthur via The Catapult Club, continue to promote live music at The Birmingham Ballroom (the newest incarnation of the site of the Hummingbird/Academy)  and the Actress & Bishop, as well as now managing bands.

A true legend of the Birmingham indie scene !
